"It's like a mortgage," said Stokes. "You pay a large amount upfront and gradually pay it off over eight years. With rising electricity prices, it makes sense to invest now and be done with it."
"We're helping the planet and saving on air conditioning costs thanks to our excess energy production," DiFranco said. Stokes chimed in, dispelling the myth that solar is only viable in sunny states. "Even here in the Northeast, we're generating a significant amount of electricity."
The installation process was unobtrusive - and the government incentives were an added bonus. "We received federal and state incentives immediately after installation," DiFranco explained. "City incentives were paid out over five years as discounts on our real estate taxes."
