A couple is suing for $15 million after its embryos were destroyed following an error in the IVF process. They say they might have lost the last chance to have kids.

"We were devastated," Komarova said, noting that they were discarded almost immediately. "We thought we'd done everything right before the retrieval." The couple felt pure confusion.

In January 2024, they learned of a recall notice issued to IVF clinics across the US by CooperSurgical, the giant pharmaceutical company that manufactured the solution used in their procedure.

The email from their fertility clinic revealed an issue concerning the IVF 'culture media,' which could have negatively impacted their embryo development outcome.

"We had a lot of questions," Darmont said, as they struggled to find answers and began to blame themselves for the failed cycle.
