In a compact 540-square-foot apartment, interior designer Lauranne Élise Schmitt transformed a formerly cramped layout into a bright, functional space. Focusing on improving circulation and maximizing light, Schmitt designed a large living area and an inviting bedroom, linking them with well-placed dressing rooms and toilets. The palette, inspired by the owner's Andalusian roots, features warm earth tones accentuated by a rustic red kitchen and a versatile custom table. This redesign highlights the importance of efficient use of space while maintaining comfort and modern design.
Light is the key word for this small space. But it was partitioned into many small spaces. We had to reimagine the plan and figure out a way to improve the circulation.
In the end, every function has its place and no square inch is wasted.
The kitchen is in a rustic red that complements the large custom table and the Alicante marble credenza.
Facing the kitchen, the extra long and thin table creates a visual separation between the kitchen and the living room without taking up too much space.
