8 Christmas market travel tips - warm socks, guided tours, and snack like it's going out of fashion
Briefly

Festive markets start any time from mid-November, running to Christmas Eve or early January. Midweek is where you'll find the travel bargains, with prices and crowds swelling as Christmas closes in.
When it comes to packing, lash on the layers - comfy shoes, warm socks, hats and gloves for the browsing, and a backpack to store layers and stash gifts collected along the way.
I'd advise checking dates and opening hours for the individual markets you're interested in before booking. Make sure they align with your dates, flight times and preferences, particularly in smaller cities.
One of my top Christmas market tips is to book a guided tour. These should take two hours or so, the cost can be split by joining a group, and they share local insights that can really bring the experience to life.
