Robert Jones, who was a significant player for the Miami Dolphins, signed with the Dallas Cowboys on a one-year deal after his first full season as a starter in 2024. The interest in returning to the Dolphins was evident; however, the financial offer from Dallas proved attractive. The Dolphins are also proactive in free agency, having acquired guard James Daniels while also adding Larry Borom. Nonetheless, the futures of guards Liam Eichenberg and Isaiah Wynn remain uncertain as the team reshuffles its offensive line.
Jones had interest in returning to the Dolphins, he told the South Florida Sun Sentinel before free agency, but he ultimately ends up with the Cowboys earning a decent pay day after his first season as a full-time starter in 2024.
Jones first made the Dolphins' active roster as an undrafted rookie in 2021. He was a quality reserve lineman for his first three seasons, starting 13 games between then and 2023.
As the Miami Dolphins brought in free agent guard James Daniels, incumbent starting guard Robert Jones left for the Dallas Cowboys Monday night.
While adding Daniels and versatile reserve Larry Borom on Monday night, the free agency of fellow Dolphins guards Liam Eichenberg and Isaiah Wynn remains unsettled.
