Caja Caliente, the beloved Cuban-Mexican eatery in Coral Gables known for its signature lechon tacos and burritos, has permanently closed its doors after a remarkable journey from food truck to brick-and-mortar establishment.
While Caja Caliente's Instagram mentions plans to reopen in 2025, the former location is transitioning to Miss Crispy Rice, a popular concept founded by Andrew Mayer that specializes in unusual crispy rice dishes and sushi.
Mayer expressed excitement over the relocation, saying, 'A huge percentage of our customers are coming from Coral Gables, Kendall, Pinecrest, and now we'll be that much closer,' highlighting the restaurant's strong customer base.
With the new location, Miss Crispy Rice aims to enhance customer experience, moving from a smaller food hall setup to a dedicated space that accommodates more guests, thereby fulfilling increasing demand.
