Miami-Dade, facing a growing waste problem, ponders a limited ban on plastics
Briefly

Miami Dade Commissioners are prepared to vote on a significant resolution aimed at banning single-use plastics and styrofoam at public venues, promoting sustainable alternatives.
"I don't want to go into any county-owned facility and see single-use plastics when there is a viable, cost-effective alternative," stated Miami Beach Commissioner Eileen Higgins.
The U.S. generates 35.7 million tons of plastic waste annually but recycles only 5 percent, leading to severe environmental pollution.
Experts suggest that burning trash is not the sole solution; more comprehensive strategies are needed to tackle growing waste concerns.
