Former FIU student found guilty of hiring hit man to kill prosecutor, FBI agent
Briefly

Anthony Frederick Brillante II, a former student at Florida International University, was convicted of attempted murder and related charges. He hired a hit man to murder a federal prosecutor and an FBI agent. His criminal activities included cyber-harassing relatives using hundreds of phone numbers to send threatening messages. After serving nine years for previous charges, he continued his threats while awaiting trial and engaged in a sting operation with an undercover FBI agent posing as a hit man. Brillante is facing additional prison time at sentencing.
Brillante was convicted on Friday of attempted murder of a U.S. government employee, solicitation of a crime of violence and witness tampering, potentially facing several more years in prison.
Brillante's criminal activity began while he was enrolled at FIU and included cyber-harassing relatives, sending thousands of threatening phone calls and text messages under disguised identities.
Following a nine-year prison sentence for cyber-harassment, Brillante was involved in a sting operation while held without bond, trying to hire a hit man to murder federal officials.
The FBI's investigation revealed further threats against relatives in Texas and New York, showcasing Brillante's continued criminal behavior despite previous legal consequences.
