Around 6 a.m., a driver going northbound on Northwest 22nd Avenue, near 54th Street, struck a person on a scooter, police spokesman Det. Angel Rodriguez told the Miami Herald. The driver ran away, leaving the car behind, and the scooter rider died at the scene, Rodriguez said.
A description of the vehicle nor the driver was immediately available, but CBS News Miami footage showed a dark-colored sedan with front-end damage.
