A black Honda pilot hit a child near Miami Gardens Shopping Plaza around 6:52 a.m, Miami Gardens police said in a news release.
According to WSVN 7 News, an SUV hit the child after a group of students exited a school bus. The child was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center, where the student died, police said.
