Touch can reduce pain, depression and anxiety, say researchers
Briefly

More consensual touch events throughout our day can help alleviate or potentially buffer against mental and physical complaints. Touch interventions are best suited for reducing pain, depression, anxiety in adults and children, and increasing weight gain in newborns.
Humans gained similar benefits in physical health when touched by other humans or objects like social robots or weighted blankets. Human touch had a larger positive impact on mental health than touch from objects.
