Strictly winner Ore Oduba says porn addiction 'destroyed his life'
""dogged me for nearly 30 years,""
""I remember being very intrigued, a feeling of eyes being opened,""
""Whilst I wouldn't say addiction set in immediately, the intrigue started immediately.""
""This is the problem with this form of addiction that even I could understand at 10. Shameful, it's so shameful. We can't talk about it because there is a perceived nature to it that is everything we hate, everything that we despise.""
Ore Oduba developed a porn addiction after being shown adult images on a computer at age nine. The addiction persisted for nearly 30 years and functioned as a response to other trauma, which he described as destroying his life internally. Family shame and threats from his father to move the family to Nigeria forced him to conceal the behavior and become a "master masker." Persistent shame prevented disclosure until 18 months ago. He celebrated a year of sobriety in July and expressed concern about how easily children can access pornography, noting reports of very young viewers and his own young children.
