I keep having nightmares
Briefly

Sleep is limited to a few hours nightly because nightmares about an unseen, uncaring force attempting to kill the sleeper are overwhelming. One recurring dream places the sleeper trapped in a building surrounded by automated machines that would shoot anyone who walked outside. The machine operators in that dream appear indifferent and unwilling to turn the machines off. Another dream involves narrowly escaping being run over by a directionless train that cannot apply brakes due to an inflexible schedule. The sleeper connects these experiences to news consumption and considers stopping reading the news.
Every night I can only sleep for a few hours at a time because I'm overwhelmed by nightmares where an unseen, uncaring force is trying to kill me.
Tonight I dreamt I was trapped in a building surrounded by automated machines that would shoot me if I walked outside.
In my dream I knew that the operators of the machines didn't have strong feelings about killing me, they just couldn't be bothered to turn off the machine.
Last night I awoke moments before I was to be run over by a train heading nowhere and carrying nothing but with such a tight schedule to keep that they couldn't apply the brakes even for a moment.
