"When Will Gannon was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult, joining an online support group made a huge difference in terms of peer support and practical skills like time management"
"Can you imagine feeling out of kilter with others for most of your life, but not knowing why?"
"I felt really stupid because of it. It was like I was running up against a brick wall and I couldn't figure out why," he says."
Will Gannon, 64, felt out of kilter with others for most of his life and dropped out of college at UCD in his second year while studying German and English because he struggled to pass exams. He experienced persistent difficulty with tests and productivity and felt inadequate and blocked without understanding the cause. A later diagnosis of ADHD as an adult explained longstanding challenges. Participation in an online support group delivered peer understanding and practical strategies, notably time-management techniques, which substantially improved his ability to cope with daily tasks and past academic difficulties.
