The study found that people with diabetes prescribed semaglutide were more than four times likely to be diagnosed with naion, leading to blindness. Over three years, 8.9% of those on semaglutide developed naion compared to 1.8% on other drugs.
Research at Mass Eye and Ear Harvard hospital revealed 17 naion cases among semaglutide users with type 2 diabetes and 20 cases in overweight individuals, showing higher risk compared to other medications.
