Unchanged power dynamics still block progress for under-represented groups in academia

An analysis of 95,130 PhD students who graduated from Dutch universities between 1990 and 2021 shows that the careers of women and minority ethnic groups are shorter on average, indicating continued gender and ethnic biases in academia.
The study highlights the lack of advancement for women and minority ethnic groups in senior positions despite over three decades of efforts to promote diversity in Dutch academia.
