Briefly

The drug Lenacapavir, if injected two times a year, can provide total protection against HIV infections. The trial, which took place in Africa, showed 100% efficacy in Phase 3 trial data, according to data published Wednesday in the New England Journal of Medicine.
Linda-Gail Bekker, director of the Desmond Tutu HIV Center, highlighted the significant impact of Lenacapavir injections, stating it could potentially improve PrEP uptake and reduce HIV transmission in cisgender women globally.
Over 5,000 women and adolescent girls participated in the trial, with none acquiring HIV among those who received Lenacapavir injections twice a year.
The study, named PURPOSE 1 trial, tested Lenacapavir injections every 26 weeks against daily pill forms of HIV medication. None of the Lenacapavir group participants acquired HIV during the study period.
