The children of the contaminated blood scandal
Briefly

About 30,000 NHS patients, including more than 300 children, were infected with HIV and hepatitis C from contaminated blood products. Ade Goodyear was one of them, infected at age 15.
Patients at Treloar's college were given injections of a blood plasma product called factor VIII concentrate, which was flagged by the World Health Organization for contamination risks.
Andy Evans, diagnosed with haemophilia as a baby, contracted HIV from factor VIII at age six. His parents, unaware of the risks, were not informed until four years later.
Survivors like Andy and Ade have campaigned for accountability for decades after being ignored and dismissed. A public inquiry into the scandal will soon publish its final report.
