The UCSF Medical Center at Parnassus has floors without air conditioning, subjecting patients and staff to dangerous heat during this week's extreme temperatures.
"It's really ridiculous...I can't even put on my gloves to do the work that I need to do to take care of my patients because my palms are sweating from the heat."
The hospital has been dealing with the lack of air conditioning on some floors for years, according to more than a half a dozen nurses who spoke on the condition of anonymity.
A nurse named Melton Smith expressed frustration saying, "Right now, it is so miserably hot on our floor. It is 95-100 degrees and we are taking care of extremely-ill patients."
