New dementia tool predicts when symptoms will start: 'Would you want to know?'
Briefly

The Florey Dementia Index, developed by Australian researchers, can predict when a person may first experience dementia symptoms based on age and interview responses.
Nicholas (Yijun) Pan stated, 'Our test now needs to be prospectively validated but could potentially be used as a screening tool for people aged over 60 without symptoms, especially those at risk.'
The model had a margin of error of about 18 months for mild cognitive impairment and eight months for dementia, according to the Florey Institute.
Dr. Liron Sinvani emphasized that while the Clinical Dementia Rating (CDR) is comprehensive, it is rarely used in routine practice due to practicality issues.
