'I visited Queen's Hospital and the reality of A&E corridor care was harrowing'
Briefly

Queen's Hospital emergency department in Romford has become overwhelmed, operating beyond its capacity despite the exhaustive efforts of burnt-out staff. During a recent visit, it was evident that the facilities, such as the Urgent Treatment Centre, lack a dedicated waiting room and offer minimal space, resembling a small GP practice. Patients often wait excessively long for treatment; instances of waits exceeding 60 hours for mental health assessments have been reported. The hospital needs urgent transformation to effectively serve the increasing patient demand.
Heartbreakingly, this is in spite of the best efforts of staff, who are burnt out trying to look after the hundreds of patients who come in every day.
Walking through the corridors from the main reception you can begin to get a sense of what it must feel like to be stuck here waiting for treatment for more than two days.
