Hospitals across the U.S. face IV fluid shortage after Hurricane Helene
Briefly

Baxter International stated on its website that their North Cove facility, which supplies 60% of the U.S. IV fluid bags, is closed due to flooding from Hurricane Helene.
According to Dr. Paul Biddinger, chief preparedness and continuity officer at Mass General Brigham, the hospital network is experiencing one of the biggest shortages regarding IV fluids ever.
B. Braun has reported that while their sites remained unaffected by Hurricane Helene, they are actively taking steps to ramp up production of critical IV fluids in California and Florida.
Baxter's CEO, Joe Almeida, emphasized their commitment to restore production, stating they will spare no resource to ensure patients receive necessary IV products.
