"This lawsuit is in direct response to Defendants' concerted effort to intentionally retaliate and discriminate against Whistleblowers, like Plaintiff, who only wished to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of the public," said Muneeb M. Ahmad, representing Atkins.
Atkins alleges he was subjected to a retaliatory campaign of racist and homophobic intimidation before he was fired, including being ridiculed for his sexual orientation.
He claims that unsterile and dirty machinery and equipment were used to clean up feces and raw sewage, exposing patients to life-threatening infections.
The suit details how management and others used derogatory terms and slurs, highlighting a toxic environment filled with hostility towards Atkins’s sexual orientation and race.
