Elderly patients waiting more than 24 hours among 123 people on trolleys in UHL as it grapples with overcrowding

HSE's figures show 46 patients waited over 24 hours on trolleys in UHL, with a total of 80 patients on trolleys across departments and 32 on 'surge' beds for day procedures.

Health officials made improvements after Aoife Johnston's tragic death, including hiring more staff; department now has more junior doctors, emergency consultants, and nurses for enhanced emergency care.
