Davis Schneider's brother died of an overdose. Blue Jays say naloxone can save others | CBC Sports
"Davis Schneider described his brother Steven as 'kind of like a Superman,' noting his dedication to helping others as a nurse and his popularity in sports. Schneider reflected on the devastating impact of his brother's overdose, stating, 'Probably the most devastating thing is that he was alone, he wasn't with anyone.' He emphasized the importance of naloxone, saying, 'If someone had been with my brother and had naloxone, his life could have been saved.'"
Davis Schneider viewed his brother Steven as a role model, who worked as a nurse and was well-liked. Tragically, Steven died from an opioid overdose in November 2020, during a difficult time exacerbated by COVID-19. Schneider was unaware of his brother's struggles and the existence of naloxone, a life-saving drug for overdoses. Schneider believes that if someone had been with Steven and had naloxone, he might have survived. Schneider has since partnered with Emergent BioSolutions to promote naloxone awareness and prevent similar tragedies.
