Chadwell Heath GP surgery breaches regulations around safe care and staff competence

Grove Surgery in Chadwell Heath Lane received a 'requires improvement' rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) during its recent inspection on December 16. Issues identified included unsafe medicine management and a lack of robust systems for monitoring patient care. Notably, one in ten patients prescribed blood pressure medication were found to lack appropriate monitoring. The report highlighted that some vaccines were incorrectly charged, and urgent referrals did not receive timely assessments, raising significant concerns about patient safety and the effectiveness of their governance.
Overall, we found the monitoring of patient's medicines did not always follow national guidelines.
Inspectors identified that the practice did not have an effective system in place to assure all urgent referrals received a prompt assessment.
