BHRUT flu cases last week were FOUR TIMES higher than in October and November
Briefly

Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust (BHRUT) saw flu cases surge, admitting 90 patients in the first week of January 2025 alone.
Chief executive Matthew Trainer highlighted that the soaring flu numbers are "contributing to the pressure our staff are under" amid the trust's busiest month ever in December.
Professor Sir Stephen Powis remarked, "It is clear that hospitals are under exceptional pressure at the start of this new year, with mammoth demand... from respiratory viruses like flu."
In December alone, BHRUT admitted 187 flu patients, representing an eightfold increase compared to previous months, with A&E departments also facing unprecedented demand.
