YouTube has announced an increase in the minimum age for livestreaming to 16 years, impacting content creators on the platform. Effective from July 22, individuals under this age will no longer be able to livestream. Furthermore, livestreams involving 13 to 15-year-olds, if not accompanied by an adult, may face restrictions such as disabled live chat features. The platform has indicated future measures could include the removal of such livestreams and temporary suspension of streaming capabilities, reinforcing its commitment to the safety of its younger users.
As of July 22, we are increasing the minimum age required to livestream to 16 years old. This means that creators will need to be 16 or older to be able to livestream on YouTube.
Additionally, livestreams featuring 13-15 year olds who are not visibly accompanied by an adult may have their live chat disabled and the account may temporarily lose access to live chat or other features.
Please note that, in the future, we plan to take down these livestreams and the account may temporarily lose its ability to live stream.
