LaForme expressed concern about the journalism landscape, stating that while some local and nonprofit news efforts are thriving, the core structures of legacy organizations are showing signs of collapse.
Despite concerns, McBride and LaForme acknowledged that the media performed reasonably well in covering the 2024 election, reflecting a grade of 'B to B-minus', but criticized an overreliance on polling data.
