The Onion Is Trying to License Infowars
"Tim Heidecker expressed his vision for the new Infowars, stating, 'I just thought it would be just a beautiful joke if we could take this pretty toxic, negative, destructive force of Infowars and rebrand it as this beautiful place for our creativity.'"
"Bryce P. Tetraeder, CEO of Global Tetrahedron, remarked, 'With this new InfoWars, we will democratize psychological torture, welcoming brutal and sadistic ideas from everyone, even the very stupidest among us. It will be like the Manhattan Project, only instead of a bomb, we will be building a website.'"
The Onion is attempting to license the Infowars name from Gregory Milligan, the court-appointed manager. If approved by Judge Maya Guerra Gamble, the Onion would pay $81,000 monthly for six months, with a renewal option. Infowars will be rebranded as a satire of conspiracy theories, with Tim Heidecker as the creative director. Alex Jones, who still operates the site, may appeal any ruling. Jones has been trying to sell Infowars after a defamation suit led to bankruptcy.
