Human rights activists, journalists, and political opponents who oppose President Ilham Aliyev are being silenced. Reporters from RFI and FRANCE 24 met with victims of torture who are denouncing the violent system of repression.

Several journalists and a member of the administrative team from Abzas, an online media specializing in human rights in Azerbaijan, were arrested by the authorities. Forbidden Stories, an international consortium of investigative journalists, is continuing their work and collaborating with French and international media outlets to expose corruption by the Azerbaijani authorities.
