CNN is criticized for moving away from factual reporting toward opinion-driven talking head shows. Bill Maher said he misses the earlier version of CNN that reliably delivered stories. Donna Brazile agreed that CNN should focus on hitting the news and the facts. The remarks came after Sen. John Fetterman complained that media has become “slop,” and after Rep. Dan Crenshaw argued that media companies cannot profit by only sticking to news. Maher responded that news organizations should not treat profit as the primary goal. CNN recently placed third in cable news viewership, though prime-time audiences increased compared with the prior year.
