Following the launch of Meta's standalone AI app, Mark Zuckerberg outlined plans to monetize the assistant via product ads and a subscription model. He emphasized the importance of scaling user engagement, noting the app's rapid growth to almost 1 billion users. While he anticipates potential revenue streams in the future, the immediate focus will be on deepening user interaction. Zuckerberg's comments mirror Meta's previous strategies with other platforms, highlighting an approach centered on establishing a robust user base before monetization efforts surface.
I think that there will be a large opportunity to show product recommendations or ads, as well as a premium service for people who want to unlock more compute for additional functionality or intelligence.
I expect that we're going to be largely focused on scaling and deepening engagement for at least the next year before we'll really be ready to start building out the business here.
