Generative AI (genAI) is emerging in mobility management software, particularly in unified endpoint management (UEM), which centralizes device management. Despite AI hype, its integration in UEM remains limited, with vendors often overstating capabilities. Experts highlight potential enhancements via genAI, such as chatbots and actionable insights, but real implementations are few. Current use cases mainly focus on anomaly detection. Analysts stress that while genAI could transform UEM, the journey towards full integration is still at a nascent stage, indicating a need for patience in its rollout.
"At this time, AI and genAI implementation into UEM platforms is limited, and vendor marketing claims often exceed product capabilities," says Tom Cipolla, senior director and analyst at research firm Gartner.
"Overall, it's still early days for genAI in UEM... The most advanced use cases today are the ones for anomaly detection..." says Andrew Hewitt, principal analyst at research firm Forrester.
