Cloudflare builds an AI to make life hell for other AIs
Briefly

Cloudflare has developed a new AI tool called the "AI Labyrinth" to combat the growing issue of AI crawler bots that scrape data from websites without permission. The company observed that around one percent of all access requests to web content come from these bots. Traditional blocking methods like robots.txt files and CAPTCHAs are often ineffective, as bot operators find ways around them. Instead of blocking these requests, Cloudflare offers AI-generated pages that waste the crawlers' time and resources while avoiding misinformation, thus safeguarding web content without harming site reputations or SEO efforts.
When we detect unauthorized crawling, rather than blocking the request, we will link to a series of AI-generated pages that are convincing enough to entice a crawler to traverse them.
The content is "real looking" but "not actually the content of the site we are protecting, so the crawler wastes time and resources."
The AI slop is also designed not to mess with sites' reputations or search engine optimization efforts.
No human would go four links deep into a maze of AI-generated nonsense.
