"Inside the last several weeks, Compass has signed partnerships with MRED, Realtracs, The MLS/CLAW and BrightMLS, four of the largest MLSs in the country. The deals feed Compass private exclusives and coming-soon properties into MLS-controlled networks. Compass has pledged to subsidize membership for up to 100,000 of its agents who join MRED, with comparable subsidies offered through the other MLS deals."
Zillow seeks a preliminary injunction in an antitrust case against Midwest Real Estate Data and Compass to stop MRED from terminating Zillow’s listing access while the lawsuit proceeds. MRED has demanded that Zillow restore display of all eligible MRED listings by May 19 or face suspension of its IDX and VOW feeds. The lawsuit alleges Compass and MRED coordinated to pressure Zillow into displaying Compass private listings nationwide using MLS rule-making authority. Exhibits include emails from October 2025 in which Compass leadership allegedly urged MLSs to terminate Zillow’s feeds if Zillow enforced its display standards. Compass has pursued partnerships with multiple major MLSs to route private exclusives and coming-soon properties into MLS-controlled networks, while some MLS leaders have expressed reservations.
