TikTok sues U.S. to block prospective ban or sale of the app
Briefly

The companies said they filed a lawsuit in the U.S. Court of Appeals to block the law that requires the divestiture of TikTok by Jan. 19, stating it is not possible and would force a shutdown, affecting 170 million American users.
The suit highlighted concerns about China accessing American data through TikTok, with the law aiming to prevent app stores from offering TikTok and internet hosting services from supporting it unless divested.
TikTok insisted it has taken significant data protection measures for U.S. users and made commitments in a National Security Agreement, including a 'shut-down option' to comply with U.S. regulations.
