Google tests a new short videos search filter on mobile
Briefly

Google is now taking cognizance of the short video format's important role in information delivery. A new Short Videos filter is set to appear in Search shortly, catering to the popularity of short video content like YouTube Shorts and TikTok videos.
The short video format, pioneered by apps like TikTok, is becoming popular for content like instructionals and news due to its engaging and visual nature. Despite credibility concerns, short-format content is considered crisp and promising for information delivery.
The Short Videos filter in Google Search will display portrait-orientation content from YouTube Shorts and TikTok in a convenient two-column layout. Users will no longer need to explicitly include keywords like Reels or Shorts in their search queries.
Though not yet confirmed for desktop, the new Short Videos filter is undergoing worldwide testing on mobile. This development is supported by SEO consultant Brodie Clark's discovery and tipster AssembleDebug's observations, hinting at a potential widespread rollout post-testing.
