Conservative Christians freak out over NASCAR ads featuring the phrase "Hell yeah!" - LGBTQ Nation
"One Million Moms (OMM) is upset that a new promotional campaign for the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) contains the "foul," "profane," and "inappropriate" phrase "Hell Yeah!" because it "diminish[es] how awful Hell is." So OMM is asking its followers to sign a petition asking NASCAR's advertising agency to drop the phrase, claiming that it's causing some viewers to stop watching NASCAR's car races."
"'NASCAR's new brand spot 'Hell Yeah' is the biggest oxymoron there is! There is nothing 'yeah' about Hell since it is a place of torment and anguish," OMM continued. "Sadly, when a driver wins a race, this phrase is often the first thing spoken through the helmet microphone, exposing families, including children, to this foul language. This has prompted some fans to stop watching altogether.'"
One Million Moms (OMM) objects to NASCAR's promotional slogan "Hell Yeah," calling it foul, profane, and inappropriate and saying it diminishes how awful Hell is. OMM asserts the slogan is used during races and sometimes spoken over driver helmet microphones, exposing families and children to foul language. OMM claims the slogan has prompted some fans to stop watching and is urging followers to sign a petition asking NASCAR's advertising agency to drop the phrase. OMM criticizes NASCAR executives for airing races in prime time and argues that children repeat what they hear. OMM is a project of the anti-LGBTQ+ American Family Association.
