Chris Wood's fitness for Nottingham Forest's match against Manchester United is uncertain as he recovers from a hip injury sustained during international duty. The striker has made significant contributions this season, scoring 18 goals in 32 appearances. Although he missed the FA Cup quarter-final against Brighton, manager Nuno Espirito Santo reported that Wood is improving day by day but remains painful due to a significant contusion. As Forest strives for a spot in the Champions League, his absence may be felt by the team, which currently sits third in the Premier League.
"He's getting better day by day," said Nuno. "We have to assess him day by day, it's all about him being free and getting better. It's a big contusion, so it's very painful."
Wood sustained a hip injury while on international duty with New Zealand earlier this month. The 33-year-old, who has scored 18 goals in 32 appearances across all competitions this season, missed Sunday's FA Cup quarter-final victory over Brighton.
