Elliot Anderson is a former Newcastle youth who left because of Premier League squad registration (PSR) issues after a complex transfer chain involving Anthony Gordon, Jarell Quansah and Yankuba Minteh. Liverpool had agreed a deal for Gordon with Quansah moving the other way, but Minteh's move to Brighton and Forest's entry for Anderson altered plans and allowed Newcastle to cancel the Gordon transfer. Manchester United have identified Anderson as a target and value him around £60–70m. Ross Wilson's recent switch from Forest to Newcastle as sporting director creates a useful connection.
