"For a while this worked and the Blues were left frustrated attempting to find an equaliser, with Cherki hitting the post around the half hour mark. Swansea's resistance would not last though and just before half time, Doku got past his man and fired a shot that deflected off the Swansea defender to bring City level. Despite losing their lead, Swansea still held firm for a good portion of the second half, keeping the Blues out hoping to catch them on the counter."
"The match was on the back of a 1-0 defeat at the weekend to Aston Villa, which the Blues were looking to bounce back from immediately. The lineup was much different to the previous one. Trafford started in goal. Khusanov returned from injury and was accompanied by Lewis, Ake, and Ait-Nouri in the back line. Gonzalez, Cherki, and Mukasa were in the midfield with Bobb, Doku, and Marmoush in attack."
Manchester City overcame an early deficit to beat Swansea City 3-1 and progress to the Carabao Cup quarter-finals. Swansea scored in the 12th minute when Goncalo Franco chipped into the top right corner, prompting Swansea to defend deep. City struggled for long periods before Cherki struck the post and Doku levelled with a deflected shot just before half-time. Marmoush put City ahead with a strike into the roof of the net following a pass from Cherki. Swansea pushed late to find an equaliser but City maintained control and saw out the victory. Several lineup changes featured, including Trafford in goal and Khusanov returning from injury.
