Nationals win MLB draft lottery, will have No. 1 pick in July
Briefly

The Washington Nationals have a history of augmenting the backbone of their contending teams via the very top of the MLB draft, first with Strasburg in 2009 and then Harper in 2010.
Now, the Nationals have one more opportunity in July, as they have learned they will pick first in the 2025 draft, providing a chance to boost their farm system.
The Nationals will select from a consensus top five that includes position players like Jace LaViolette and Ethan Holliday, and three pitchers: Tyler Bremner, Jamie Arnold, and Seth Hernandez.
Entering the draft lottery, the Nationals had a 10.2 percent chance to pick first after finishing the previous season with a 71-91 record for the second consecutive year.
