"Getting a high-leverage reliever is never a bad thing."
"Teo certainly fits. He's helped us win two championships, he's one of my favorites,"
"Really proud of what Mookie did at shortstop. Even that last play in the World Series, he worked on that play a lot to not make that ball go arm side,"
"On the run, fielded, runner bearing down on you, to then throw it on the run and throw a strike to Freddie, that's just a little snippet of his growth."
The Los Angeles Dodgers agreed to a three-year, $69 million contract with Edwin Díaz at MLB's Winter Meetings in Orlando. Manager Dave Roberts had earlier said a "big splash" was unnecessary but noted that "Getting a high-leverage reliever is never a bad thing." General manager Brandon Gomes and Roberts downplayed the likelihood of trading Teoscar Hernández, though Hernández could move back to left field depending on the outfielder search. Roberts confirmed Mookie Betts will remain at shortstop after a Gold Glove finalist season and praised his defensive development. Roberts expressed optimism that Tanner Scott can rebound after a season with a career-high 10 blown saves. Roberts also provided an update on Tommy Edman and commented on Shohei Ohtani playing for Team Japan in the 2026 World Baseball Classic.
