"Smith has remained active, but Dalton Rushing was put on the 10-day injured list Saturday. Rushing was removed from the series opener against the Baltimore Orioles after fouling a pitch off his right knee/shin. An X-ray on Friday night came back negative and follow-up CT scan also did not reveal any sort of fracture. Rushing nevertheless is now due to miss time because of what Dodgers manager Dave Roberts has deemed a deep bone bruise in his right shin."
"Sauer is now on waivers after appearing in 10 games (one start) for the Dodgers this season. Sauer went 2-1 with a 6.37 ERA and 1.45 WHIP in those appearances. The right-hander last was up with the Dodgers in August but spent one day on the roster before getting optioned to Oklahoma City on Aug. 22 as the corresponding move to Tanner Scott returning from the injured list."
"That represented the fifth time this season Sauer was optioned to the Minors. It's the most allowed for one year under the current collective bargaining agreement (CBA). If the Dodgers were to recall Sauer at some point again in 2025, he would have needed to pass through waivers if they looked to then remove him from their roster prior to the regular season concluding."
The Dodgers added catcher Chuckie Robinson to their active roster and designated right-hander Matt Sauer for assignment. Ben Rortvedt was called up earlier because Will Smith has a bone bruise in his right hand, though Smith remains active. Dalton Rushing was removed after fouling a pitch off his right knee/shin; X-ray and CT scans showed no fracture, but the team labeled the injury a deep bone bruise, leading to a 10-day injured list placement. Sauer appeared in 10 games this season (one start), posted a 2-1 record with a 6.37 ERA, and is now on waivers. Sauer was optioned to the Minors five times this season and went 5-5 with a 5.86 ERA in 18 games (17 starts) for Oklahoma City after joining on a Minor League contract in January.
