College teammates Bryan Woo, Drew Thorpe square off in Mariners-White Sox series

Drew's been a good friend of mine," Woo said. "Before we got to Cal Poly, we played summer ball together going into freshman year. We were friends throughout (college) and I think we've actually gotten closer over the last couple of years, just talking over pro ball and development and stuff.
I've been looking forward to this day for a while but it'll be a little bit different now. I'm still excited about the situation." Thorpe, when he found out they would be pitching against each other. "Once he got the news, we've been pretty much texting nonstop," Woo said.
He didn't really know if he was really a position player or pitcher," Woo said. "Then once Drew got on the mound, everybody saw that changeup.
There could be another Cal Poly Mustang on the field for Tuesday's game. Outfielder Mitch Haniger also played for Cal Poly. He often extols the beauty of the San Luis Obispo area where the campus located.
