Braves News: Holiday doldrums, potential targets, more
"Well we're mostly still waiting for things of significance to resume happening after the Christmas holiday, with a few minor transactions and the Tyler Soderstrom extension standing aside as exceptions. Tatsuya Imai has to sign in the next six days (and he would be a great signing for the Braves' starting pitching need, even though I am not expecting it), while Kazuma Okamoto has to sign in the next eight."
"That's some guaranteed action of significance at the very least. The hope is that those pieces moving can catalyze larger market movement in overall free agent and perhaps trade markets. It sure feels like Ketel Marte is getting traded this offseason and a few starting pitcher trades seem inevitable as well."
Activity has largely paused after the Christmas holiday, with only minor transactions and the Tyler Soderstrom extension as exceptions. Tatsuya Imai must sign within six days and would address the Braves' starting pitching need, though that signing is not expected. Kazuma Okamoto must sign within eight days. Those near-term signings represent guaranteed roster movement. Those roster moves could catalyze broader activity in the free-agent and trade markets. Ketel Marte appears likely to be traded this offseason. Multiple starting-pitcher trades seem inevitable.
