Prep basketball roundup: Brentwood stays unbeaten in Gold Coast League after OT win
Briefly

In an intense match, Brentwood's coach instructed players to foul Windward to stop a potential three-pointer, but the plan faltered, allowing a last-second shot that tied the game. AJ Okoh, guarding Windward's shooter, expressed regret for not executing the foul. Notably, Okoh starred with 28 points, while teammate Sheppard scored 18 points. Despite some moments of confusion, their team cohesion proved vital as they ultimately triumphed 70-66 in overtime, solidifying their strong league position at 5-0 in the Gold Coast League.
"I should have fouled," said sophomore AJ Okoh, who was guarding Bond to start the play. It ended up working out for the Eagles, who won in overtime 70-66 to improve to 22-3 and 5-0 in the Gold Coast League.
"I know we had a lot of brain lapses," Sheppard said. "But we didn't get mad at each other and that helped us."
As Brentwood coach Ryan Bailey told his players during the timeout that there were two fouls to give, it was clear that strategy went awry.
Asked what he learned from the game, Okoh said, "To fully listen."
