NFL head coaching candidates: Ben Johnson, Jim Harbaugh, Dan Quinn and other hot names
Briefly

The Houston Texans' Bobby Slowik, Cincinnati Bengals' Brian Callahan and Miami Dolphins' Frank Smith are intriguing prospects. But Slowik is in his first season as an offensive coordinator, and none of those coaches are the primary play callers for their teams. Slowik, Callahan and Smith may have to wait until the next hiring cycle for a chance to be a head coach, especially if this ends up being a winter when teams lean more toward hiring defensive-minded head coaches.
The 37-year-old Johnson's name remains on the lips of many NFL front-office members. He has impressed and intrigued officials around the league with his creativity and open-mindedness, which helped the Lions go 12-5 and lock up their first division title in 30 years. It would be hard to find anyone in the NFL who isn't impressed with Quinn's work while transforming the Cowboys' defense into a juggernaut. The former Atlanta Falcons head coach is likely moving on from Dallas a year after teams tried in vain to lure him away.
