The ICE War on Workers
Briefly

Senator Alex Padilla highlighted the aggressive tactics of the Department of Homeland Security after being arrested for questioning Secretary Kristi Noem. He asserted that such treatment raises concerns about how immigrant workers are handled across California, reflecting widespread community fears. U.S. District Court Judge Charles Breyer echoed these sentiments, noting that recent law enforcement actions are targeting hardworking individuals instead of violent criminals. Activists and community leaders argue that the aggressive and indiscriminate operations by ICE have created a climate of fear among laborers trying to earn a living, often impacting U.S. citizens as well.
If this is how the Department of Homeland Security responds to a senator with a question, you can only imagine what they're doing to farmworkers, to cooks, to day laborers out in the Los Angeles community and throughout California and throughout the country.
They aren't targeting violent criminals – they are sweeping up hardworking people in our communities just trying to provide for their families.
Targeting workers, organized labor, and work itself has been a major theme of the second Trump administration, as the federal workforce knows so well.
ICE sweeps and sightings are indiscriminate – garment factories, car washes, doughnut shops, restaurants, even hotels where agents are staying.
